What is Clomid And How Does It Work?
How does clomid affect your cycle? Clomid works by acting on a number of different receptors in the body that regulate hormone production and release. In particular, Clomid works to increase the amount of hormones involved in the ovulation process
A woman is born with hundreds of thousands of eggs. She is supposed to release an egg every month through the process called ovulation. It is well -known that for a woman to get pregnant, fertilization of the egg must take place. However, there can be no fertilization if Ovulation does not occur.
Ovulation failure is known as anovuulation in medical parlance. It can be treated with a number of medications including Clomid which contains an active ingredient called Clomifene Citrate and therefore leading to clomid induction ovulation
Mechanism of action
For a woman to ovulate many hormonal events come to play and what Clomid does is to increase the level of these hormones. The hormones in question are the luteinizing hormone (LH) the Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and the follicular stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones work together to stimulate your ovaries to release an egg.
Normally, the sex hormone estrogen sends messages to the brain to stop the release of these hormones. Clomid therefore stops or inhibits this action of estrogen in order to allow ovulation to take place without unhindered.
Apart from treatment of anovuulation (ovulation failure), Clomid is also used in the treatment of irregular menstruation and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
How to use Clomid
You should only follow the direction of your doctor in using any medication. Taking a medication based on a prescription seen on the pages of the internet could spell grave danger.
